Our aim is to complete the 100km walk within 48 hours and also raise $5000 for the Oxfam charity. Please help support me and my friends by donating as much or little as you can. Please meet my little chickadee chick "Peachi" whom has been in the making for the past 3 weeks. Life's been very busy with Daniel and any time I get to sew is a premium! It will take me longer but I will still be sewing and create new bears when I can.
"Peachi" will be my last bear for the year as Christmas is fast approaching and time for me to get ready and plan for Daniel's first Christmas! :D

ahh....I just LOVE Spring time. The gardens are full of colour with flowers in full bloom and sweet scents of their perfume in the air. Though I've never been a big fan of petunias, because I have to replace them each year, mum convinced me that these cascading petunia's (which she potted) would look fabulous on my balcony once they are in full bloom. Each year, it's been such a struggle to grow anything on my balcony, too hot, too sunny, too windy...and for me too much work! tee hee. I'm what my mum would call a lazy gardener, someone who wants their garden to look nice, expect plants to just grow like 'now' without having to put in the hard work. and no patients! "But to make anything beautiful, one must put in the hard work and have patients" explains old wise one! ;P

Of course, not always but in this instance, she was right. It was her hard work and guidance that these flowers are looking so beautiful. I do love how the cascade of petunia's make me feel every time I set my eyes upon them. It's relaxing and they make me happy but also with a tinge of sadness and heavy heart. I only wished my Walter was still with us as I'd wanted to create a beautiful balcony garden for him. My balcony garden is still not complete but I know he would have loved it the way it is now...

Here is another chance to adopt my beloved bear Raphael. Due to unforeseeable circumstances, Raphael's new mum was not able to complete his adopt him so here he is again. Hopefully he'll be able to find a new home and spend Christmas with his new family.
This is the original "Raphael"! "Raphael" has been with me since 2005, he is approximately 30cm/12inches tall, created from dense curly ratinee mohair. He has long arms and legs, ready to give big hugs!!

JLB is getting ready for 2012. This year has gone by so quickly I thought I'll get a head start to 2012 by creating the year's JLB calendar! :D

Each month features a different bear selected from my favourite picks. Calendar measures A4 size.

Simply print, punch a holes on the top and tie with ribbon to hang or just print each month, tack up on your cork board or attach to fridge. Print as many as you like and give one to every one on your list! A great stocking stuffer!

I've been so excited to show you my new ellie today but It's overcast today and I've not had any good natural sunlight to take a nice shots of her. Here's a sneak peek of Miss Blanc sitting with Flora...hopefully I'll get some nice sunshine tomorrow to take more photos. Right now, Miss Blanc and Flora are just sitting about watching the dark clouds passing by, cuddling and waiting for the rain to come...it's looking ominous outside! I've been having such a sweet craving lately and thankfully has been really in the mood for baking again. Though I've always had a sweet tooth, when I was carrying Daniel, I only craved for healthy foods like salads and orange juice. My friends tell me it was because I'm carrying a boy, they all craved for sweets when they were carrying girls. Hmm..perhaps that sweet tooth is fighting backing with a vengeance from being suppressed for so long! lol

To make my weekend more special, I made a vanilla slice to enjoy and boy even with my sweet tooth craving, I think I might have over done it with the sweetness! I can't say I'm regretting it as it was very yummy if I may say so myself! tee hee...my waist line might not be too happy with me though! :: here comes August ::

It's almost end of the month AGAIN and I've been extremely busy with Daniel...poor baby has eczema and I totally blame it on the cold and extremely dry weather. After many visits to the GP, pediatrician and eczema specialists, we're finally getting it under control. Hopefully he'll have some good and peaceful rests from now on (and me too!). Here is a photo of Daniel enjoying a honeysuckle flower bath...he does love his baths! :D As I've not had much time to create this month I've not been taking many photos but I am loving this photo of Dara Chickadee which I'd took last month so has chosen her as my August pin up gal! lol

Place them inside a bag inside the bear's tummy to give them a nice "squeezy" feel! I also like using glass beads for lighter colour fabrics so that you don't see the darker shade of the steel shots. These are just some tips on how to use glass beads with your bears! :-)

I've been taking it a little easy sewing bears the past week and have been feeding my recent baking addiction instead. The weekend was spent baking my favourite Japanese cottonsoft cheesecake...if you're a cheesecake lover like myself, then you'll love this, it's light as a feather and very delicious too. I do love the rich and creaming New York style cheesecakes but after a big meal, this one doesn't make one feel too gluttonous. In my earlier post I mentioned I was 'Spring' cleaning and am looking for new homes for my private collection of bears...well, my dear Frosty has been with me since he was born in 2005 has now found a new home and though I'm a little sad to let him go, I'm trully happy that he has found a very sweet new mummy and is on his way to a really nice place to call home...here's a message from his new mum I'll like to share with you...

Frosty has just been Adopted! He will have a Beautiful home in our log cabin on a lake here in South Carolina. He will be Cherished Forever. I still can't believe he is mine. Is it Spring yet?? As you know I'm not much for the cold weather and Winter has not even arrived in Melbourne but I'm already dreaming of Spring and cherry blossoms...
Next week, Daniel is turning 3 months (ahh..how time flies and even faster with a baby!) and I'm yet to get ready his nursery so that he can have his own room. Therefore, some Spring cleaning is required especially now that I no longer have my sewing room and am giving up some of my bears from my private collection. In the next few weeks, I will slowing say good bye to some of my bears and list them here to find them a new home.

Today, I'm looking for a new home for "Gloria" whom I purchased personally from the lovely bear artist Ann Marie of Anne Marie's Original Candy Bear at a teddy bear show back in 2006. "Gloria" is a sweet bear, her mohair was hand dyed by Anne Marie which really attracted me to "Gloria". Winter is rearing it's head and it's been pretty cold and wet lately. It was time to rug up and keep warm. I've always been a novice at crocheting but when I saw a hat similar to this, I just had to make one for Daniel. I never knew how to read a crochet pattern before this but with the aid of youtube and some twigging of a pattern, I managed to create this for my baby! I think it's super cute on him and the bears are all jumping up and down and wanting one too so it looks like I'm going to have to make one for them! ahh...what did we ever do before the internet!

Please meet my latest bear "NOODLES" who is sweet and gentle and created especially for the OXFAM Australia's 100km Trailwalker charity which hubby is taking part in. Hubby passed the finished line with 2 other buddies at 2.30am and completed the walk in 40 hours. We're all very proud :D however the fund raising is not complete yet. They have till May to raise more money for the team. So far they have raised over $1000 and I'm donating NOODLES to help with their cause so I hope you can help and will give NOODLES a really good home.

NOODLES is a special bear and is one of my very early designs which I no longer make or take custom orders for except for special occasion such as this. All proceeds will go to OXFAM Australia. It's almost three weeks since Daniel is home with us and we're slowing settling into a routine. While there is no time to waste while Daniel is having a little nap and feed time is minutes away, I'm trying to do some catch up of blog posting which I've been meaning to days before labour struck!

I'd like to show off Jenny Bear aka "Prim" in her elegant dresses made by her very talented mummy Lin who recently purchased a new sewing machine and has been sewing her fingers off for her little girl...

"Prim" is gorgeous in these dresses, even reminds me of Cinderella! :D Thank you Lin, looks like you and Prim are having a ball and thank you for sharing your adventures with me! I can't wait to see what other outfits you have in store for her!

:: Watching over Daniel ::

Hanson's eager waiting is over and he has been intently sitting by Daniel's side and watching over him while he sleeps. It's just over a week being home and our new routine has started to settled though with much less sleep. Motherhood sure is hard work so hats off to all stay at home mums out there! :D I'm slowing trying to get back into the JLB routine too however I've already noticed the little changes in Daniel and how fast he is growing in such a short time. I will emphasize 'slowly' as I wouldn't want to miss these special moments where I can never get back! :-) Thank you everyone for your well wishes and your patience with your orders and replies, I shall have new bears and hopefully new designs shortly! :D

Dear Walter,

You arrived as we were selfishly searching for justification to re-plant our roots in Melbourne, quickly after you trained us often choose not to do things outside of our smaller world, the world where you were able to be part of, to be present in.

You will never comprehend the variety of sacrifices we made so that you were never left for more than a few hours on your own, but we don’t regret the lifestyle confinement because you made up for it. We miss you more than what we have missed out.

Every now and then your bite was worse than your bark. Despite this our love was unconditional, sometimes on your terms you would reciprocate. Mostly you had simple needs and were happy to just be wherever we were and to receive your daily doses of interaction. Now I can only hold on to those moments as golden what once seemed everyday routine.

Your body failed you in your prime, I’m sorry I couldn’t control things for you where outcomes can’t be of our choosing. I hope you understood then or will one day realise that we gave you the most care we could for your situation. Maybe near the end we compensated too much for your loss of function because we couldn’t unleash our grasp on hope and of giving you those small moments that used to cause your tail to wag your body, you always still had an appetite even though your body could no longer serve your will. I think you let us know when it was time, thank you, otherwise I don’t think we would have the strength to make the decision without your sign.

Your smile, your enthusiasm, you had real character, a personality that made it easy for me to give you so much of myself. Maybe sometimes we were imagining humanistic qualities in you, others might suggest so in their cynicism, but I don’t think so, to us, you deserved more than the label of ‘dog’, you were with us night and day for most of your life, your consciousness was real, and now no longer, except in our thoughts. Our thoughts which pierce us with pain and comfort us with gratitude for our time we once had.

You never led a self determined life, your Mum and Dad would always be active in doing things to narrow your choices, otherwise you would spend your whole day thinking you were top dog with your face in the food bowl (you know it!), but I think it was the right life for you even though you didn’t think you needed guidance. Now your absence leaves us paralysed by the cavernous void - a gaping hole which used to be our daily care for you as what was once an ingrained part of our lives.

I will remember your wonderment at the world where we spent many hours walked, when you ran free you always made sure I was there safely within the proximity of your anxiety. That’s alright, I was happy to act as your beacon, you were oblivious as I watched over you with a warm sense of reward to see you play, walk and express yourself.

Amongst the expanse of this world, I know that we, us three are insignificant specks in the passing of time, yet to each other our time together was the entirety. That’s what it feels like right now. We will never forget you, in time we hope that when you visit our thoughts we can do so without the ache that comes with loss.

Good night my boy, my sprightly shadow, you shone so bright. If there is another place then I would hope that we could all be together again.

Walter had a great Christmas and New Years with family and friends, showing little signs of symptoms, he ran and played as he always did. In late January and early February, despite his medication, he deteriorated very rapidly, barely able to walk a few paces and experienced daily seizures. In the early hours of Tuesday morning on the 8th of Feb, Walter experienced a very large seizure and it was then, in our hearts, we knew we had to let him go...

December always feels like a blur to me with Christmas parties, New Year's eve celebrations and many birthdays in between but 2010 had whooshed by me and it was always the case of "so much I want to do and not enough time to do it all" and now there's only one more day to go and I must say, the 'To Do' list is piling up! DOH!

One task on the 'To Do' list is the monthly wallpaper downloads and thankfully, I just received a gentle reminder today for January's wallpaper. Being preoccupied with tomorrow night's celebration in welcoming the New Year, that did slip my mind so I got down to work on it straight away and created this....it is now ready for download, just click here! Cherishing precious moments...

I wasn't sure whether to post this but I know for some of you who asks about Walter, he has a special place in your thoughts...

In the past few months, Walter has been unwell, he started to get seizures, though infrequently over the past few months, he deteriorated rapidly during the last few days. A couple of days ago, he had an MRI scan and is diagnosed with brain tumor. The tumor is fairly large and is right in the middle of his brain which makes it extremely difficult and risky to remove. Currently, he's on medication to reduce the inflammation of his brain and seizures...he's a little unsteady on his feet but is still alert, still very greedy for food (especially chicken his favourite) and thankfully not experiencing any pain except for hubby and I.

We're thankful to our family and friends for their support and to those who has contacts with vet and neurologist trying to help us find a solution. We've been advised to not get our hopes up so for now, we can only continue to give him a good quality of life and cherish every waking moment we have left with our beautiful boy who has given us so much love and joy over the past 5 and a half years. We are grateful for each day that he is still with us and try to make the most of it...so on that note, it's time for his favourite part of the day, walkies to the park but he'll have to enjoy the fresh air and scenery from within a pram for now...

:: PEANUT'S HAT ::

I've had a few requests asking for Peanut's hat knit pattern so that you can give your Peanut elephant a hat too so here it is :-

I'd made up the pattern myself and this is what I did...
I used 2 and 3/4 size needles and baby wool.
Cast on 68 stitches, work 6 rows garter stitch. Change to stocking stitch and work 35 rows.
This will give you a long rectangle shape. Fold the rectangle piece in half and sew the edges together to make a square hat.
Attach a bell to one corner of the hat and stitch the other corner of the hat to the center of the hat and whoa la!! :D

Lots of yummy food, laughter and just great old fashion great company! The preparation and anticipation for the big day is just so exciting!! This month's pin up girl is Romiko with her little friend...though it wasn't intended at the time when I knitted her the hat and scarf but now, they just reminds me of Christmas!!! I've not had much excuse to really put a lot of effort into decorating a cake until now. The fun for me has always been the eating part but I do appreciate beautifully decorated cakes and cupcakes! A friend's birthday is coming up this weekend and I thought it would be more special to bake her a cake rather than buying one this year! Well...will let their taste buds decide I think! hehe

I have an idea of how I want to decorate it, it's going to be a Japanese cotton soft cheesecake which is nice and light. Will fill it with light whipped cream and strawberries...colour theme ~ white, pink and red! :D

I've been trolling through flickr to get some inspiration and boy there are some really yummy looking cakes out there and home made too!! Not sure if mine will look as professional...okay, I KNOW it won't look as professional but I do hope it will look scrumdiddlyumptious and pretty too. Will post and let you know!! wish me luck! =D

Well, we're all rather sad that their original mommy wasn't able to complete their adoption due to unforeseeable circumstances however, I know a lot of you inquired about them at the time so the good news is, I'm happy to announce that they are on their search for a new mommy and are now available for adoption! :D

I love quilts!! The last time I made one was for a project in high school and I've been wanting to make another one for donkey years but I know it will take me almost forever to finish one with my current hectic schedule, a balancing act between JLB, family and chores.

There's something about them...perhaps it's knowing the many hours spent and much love that's been poured into making a quilt that makes them so special!!

I stumbled upon this gorgeous quilt by wisecraft who created this beautiful piece of work. I love it even more because it's created from "Emma's baby clothes"!! Recycling and quilting to me is like tea and scones, they work so well together. I'm so totally inspired, are you???

Sometimes, I wonder if it's just me...
The older I get, I seem to become busier and busier and time seems to tick away ever so faster than my younger years where I still remember sitting idly, letting the day pass me by. Now, I'm forever racing the clock and would you believe I forgot about Jennylovesbenny's 7th Birthday!?

Jennylovesbenny turned 7 in October and although, Jenny Bear with her furry friends and I did have a tea party in October, we never really celebrated the special occasion. It just doesn't count if there's no candle on the cake!! Looks like I'm just going to have to make it up with more tea parties this year! I'm sure the bears will be happy about that, any excuse to eat cake!

Another year flown by and I'll like to say THANK YOU!!! Jennylovesbenny has certainly grown over the years and it still always brightens my day to learn my bears bring smiles and joy to you. THANK YOU for taking the time to read my blog, for your lovely emails and comments and for your support. THANK YOU to all Jennylovesbenny mums and dads for adopting my furry babies and to everyone who's created their own Jennylovesbenny Bears from my patterns and sharing your creations with me! From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely THANK YOU!

Remember "The Bears that Care 2010 charity auction"? It's just around the corner held on 12th November . The Bears that Care charity auction are keen to give all collectors and bear lovers the opportunity to participate in this special auction and will be able to accept email bids up until midday (Eastern Daylight Saving Time) on Friday, 12 November.

Anyone interested in participating in this way can register their interest and place their bid by emailing the following information to judi.herschell@fightcancer.org.au before midday on 12 November.
